Final day in British airways service Trident 3B.
Two Trident 3B's G-AWZO and G-AWZU carry out the final flight's of the type.For more information on the final flights plese go to the final flights page.
50th Anniversary of the first flight of Trident 1C G-ARPA 9th January 2012.
The first flight took to the air from Hatfield at 12:14 on the 9th January 1962 for a 1hr 21min flight.During the flight a problem with the undercarrage occured during deployment when the starboard main wheel jammed semi retracted against the undercarrage door,the problem was soon resolved by the flight engineer who depressurised the relevent hydraulic systeym to free fall the gear and door.On it's return to Hatfield the aircraft made a low pass along the runway before deploying the flaps and gear the aircraft stopped in 3,000ft with the use of reverse thrust.
